How does Electronic devices keep track of real time without power supply?
Some Electronics devices like mobile phone, computer... can keep the correct real time even power supply is not there.
For example if we remove the battery of a laptop or phone, then there is no source of current, If you place the battery again and turn on the device it will show the correct real time.
[There are some technologies that corrects the time on your device with the help of time provided by the Network or GPS, We are not dealing with those]
Actually there will be one additional cell in those devices. A button cell with a voltage around 3V.
This cell will power the circuit that keeps track of real time , when no external power supply is there.
So when we turn the device on again ,it will show the correct real time. This will require very low power only, so this cell will last for long time.
